Days Sales Outstanding (working back method) : (page 1 of 3)

An accurate calculation of Days Sales Outstanding (DSO or Debtor Days) can be achieved using the 'Working Back Method' (sometimes known as the countback or exhaust method) which is the standard most commonly used in the UK. DSO is usually measured at each month end. The DSO calculation will be displayed in two ways, using both monthly calendar days, and actual working days dependant upon your preference.

Please note you will need the TOTAL sales figure of your current month and the previous 2 - 3 months, which will be found on either your accounting system, with your sales dept. (or in the case of manual systems in the sales invoice file). You will also need your total debtors figure for the month end.
